3T MRI - Breast with CAD3-Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (3T MRI) is the newest and most advanced imaging technology available. Because 3T MRI is twice as strong as older MRIs, it provides twice the speed/twice the detail which produces stunning image quality allowing for more accurate diagnoses of medical conditions at their earliest and potentially curable stages.
Salem Regional Medical Center is proud to have the only 3T MRI between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The 3T Open MRI has a large 86-inch circumference and is able to accommodate claustrophobic patients and patients up to 550 pounds.

3T MRI Breast Imaging:

3T MRI Breast is twice as fast and more detailed the older breast MR scanners for accurate diagnosis of early cancer and staging. Using the latest 3D Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) software, cancers are detected accurately. MRI-guided Biopsies are fast.

Cancer experts recommend BRCA1/BRCA2 patients begin MRI screening at age 25. Click HERE to read more.

American Cancer Society recommends both annual digital mammograms and breast MRI starting at age 30 for high risk patients (the two tests are complementary).

Which Patients Benefit from 3T Breast MRI? 

Patients with recently diagnosed cancer:

• 7% have additional cancer in the same breast to guide surgery and prevent second surgeries and early cancer recurrence.

• 5% have unsuspected cancer in the opposite breast which gets missed today and presents a few years later. 

High-risk patients for breast cancer:

• 3T MRI Breast benefits patients with the Breast Cancer (BRCA) gene and those with strong family history of cancer (breast/ovarian cancer in relatives under the age of 50).

• American Cancer Society recommends both annual digital mammograms and breast MRI starting at age 30 for high risk patients (the two tests are complementary).

• Most insurance companies have now recognized the benefit of breast MRI in identifying breast cancer at an early stage and cover screening in high-risk patients.
